TrainingBSAC has been training people to dive since the early fifties. One of the original aims of the organisation was to promote safe diving practices. In 1959, the first Diving Manual was produced, which has been the basis for amateur diving practice throughout the world. In the 50+ years that BSAC has been teaching, the programme has been regularly updated and improved to represent the various developments in equipment, diving knowledge, and teacher training. The programme is second to none, and is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost. Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step. Following basic training in the safety of a swimming pool or protected area, students soon complete their first open water dives to achieve Ocean Diver certification. BSAC offer five levels of diver training, as well as a number of skill development courses that allow divers to learn the skills and techniques required to safely enjoy the type of diving that they want to do. |
